Tourist und Büro
Intervention at Zoenoteka Project Space, Berlin, 2024
in collaboration with Fionn Heron, print engineer and Mate Feles, curator of Zoenoteka

The „Tourist and Office” was a research based and participatory project in Neukölln, Berlin.

Here the roles are reversed: the tourist, who is temporarily seeking a place in the city, provides services to the locals and passersby.

During a week-long intervention, in which we established a temporary tourist office, I offered local guided tours to passersby, presenting an alternative perspective of the city. This office functions as a form of appropriation, where the artist aim is to seek connections with the local history and community as an outsider. The original function and concept of the space served as the basis for this acton, positioning it as an anonim exhibiton space:

„Zönotéka is located in Neukölln, one of Berlin’s most rapidly changing neighborhoods. The frequent opening and closing of new shops reflect shifts in the social composition of the population. As the space is not widely known, we play on our anonymity: each project transforms the appearance of the entire exhibition space, leaving passersby puzzled. They are left to wonder what kind of office might open there.”
